Shin Jung-hwan’s Shocking Sex Bribery Claims, Now Under Police Investigation

A recent YouTube broadcast by South Korean entertainer Shin Jung-hwan has triggered controversy and a formal police report, after he made explicit claims about sex bribery in the entertainment industry.
Shin Jung-hwan’s Sex Bribery Claims
On April 21, Shin released a video titled “The Wildest Roundtable Yet! (feat. Power, Celebrities, and Sex Bribery)” via YouTube talkshow NonNonNon. In the video, he detailed a personal experience involving senior businesspeople allegedly discussing sexual favors involving celebrities.
Some businessmen I know were casually talking in front of me, unaware that I was listening. One said, ‘You know who I met yesterday,’ and they started discussing exact amounts of money. One mentioned 5 million KRW, another 10 million KRW. All three were referring to the same female celebrity.”
Shin also said, “I was shocked. They admitted to paying to meet this celebrity, playing golf, eating meals together, and ultimately, engaging in sexual favors.”

His comments were echoed by former athlete and fellow guest Kang Byung-kyu, who added that gossip columns (jirashi) containing names and price lists have circulated in the past.
Formal Complaint with the Police
Following the broadcast, a concerned citizen filed a formal complaint with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, citing possible violations of South Korea’s Act on the Punishment of Acts of Arranging Sexual Traffic. The case is currently being reviewed by the Department of Women’s Safety.
The complainant emphasized that this is not just another rumor:
“This isn’t just a personal anecdote. It’s a serious issue that reveals a hidden culture of sex bribery in the entertainment industry. This matter shouldn’t be dismissed as mere gossip, it demands a thorough investigation in the public interest.”
